HVAC Troubleshooting
HVAC (Heating Ventilation And Air-Conditioning) Involves Number Of Sub-Systems.
From the name itself it can be well understood that this service is the combination of heating ventilation and air-conditioning. Hence they are very closely interlaced in this service. Leak of air, compressor liquid, hot air are common troubles for the system. HVAC troubleshooting should be done by a skilled person only. As the HVAC system is a combination of different systems, improper workmanship will lead to malfunctioning. HVAC troubleshooting should be done systematically to pin point the snag and this will help for a speedy and economical repair.
For any system to work efficiently the maintenance and repair of the system should be perfect. The maintenance of the system should be such that the down time of the system is less and it works with less power. But still sometimes systems breaks down and repair becomes inevitable. To repair a system we require efficient repair mechanics trained on HVAC system. To repair a system first the problem of the system should be identified. This is done by troubleshooting the system. Troubleshooting is a structured approach for identifying any fault in a broken down system.
Some precautions are to be taken before troubleshooting HVAC system.
- Always remember to switch off the power supply and gas supply of the HVAC system before troubleshooting or working on it.
- Never ever touch the igniter with your bare hands.
- Never bypass a pressure limiting switch. These pressure limiting switches are used to protect your system from getting over pressurized.
Most of the problems of the HVAC come from the ignition system. For troubleshooting ignition system we have to first check the igniter. The igniter should not be cracked. If the igniter is found crack then the solution is to replace it with a new one. If visual crack is not there then probably is with the roll out switch or the igniter board.
The next frequent problem that comes is the HVAC system breaking down frequently. This may be because the HVAC built in your building is not meant for it. The building may be too big for the HVAC system. Thus, the HVAC system has to work more in the cold seasons and hence break downs quickly. The solution is to upgrade the HVAC system of your building.
The other problems of the system may be due to roll out pressure switches, temperature sensors, and igniter board problems. If you go sequentially with the troubleshooting of these items then you will correctly distinguish the problem area of your HVAC system. If you are not sure what you are going to do please do call a trained HVAC mechanic to help you out.
